Why Work With Dr. Jo

I don't approach deconstruction as a problem to fix or a belief to dismantle. People navigating

deconstruction often benefit from support that includes compassion for lived pain, space to

examine inherited beliefs, healthy boundaries, and community that does not require conformity.

The Foundations Blueprintâ„¢ offers structured support to explore these areas at a pace that

respects agency and consent. I approach this work as a design challenge — and you are the

architect and designer.

Why Dr. Jo

I didn't come to this work theoretically. I came to it through lived experience, professional training, and years of navigating — and eventually leaving — systems that once provided certainty, belonging, and structure.

My education began inside a seminary, where I was deeply embedded in both church life and recovery culture. As my questioning deepened, I completed a counseling track and went on to become licensed as both a Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist. My deconstruction did not happen outside the system — it happened within it.

Years later, I returned to that same institution to complete my doctorate, openly representing myself as someone whose beliefs had fundamentally changed. That experience required navigating tension, nuance, and integrity in environments not built for dissent.

High-control systems often protect power while eroding personal agency

  • Recognition of systemic patterns
  • Understanding power dynamics
  • Commitment to ethical practice

How Do You Get Started?

The first step is a brief consultation to clarify fit, goals, and readiness. From there, we determine whether one-on-one coaching or group support is the best next step.

The consultation is not a sales call. It's a mutual fit conversation to ensure this work is ethical, appropriate, and supportive for where you are.
